McGill says < roommates = good neighbors

McGill University provides its guide to being a good neighbor, or living and renting in Montreal.

They state that the following issues have demonstrated severe importance between roommates:

  1. Level of cleanliness
  2. Level of noise in the apartment
  3. Study habits
  4. Overnight guests
  5. Pet peeves
  6. Sleeping habits
  7. Health concerns

They also strongly recommend forming a roommate questionnaire containing all these important items, then keeping it handy in case you need to discuss these issues more.

If any potential roommate isn’t interested in this level of mutual transparency, that’s a red flag.
